Lachowitzer competing at NCAA cross-country championships
Former Yellowjacket runner Kevin Lachowitzer will be competing at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers, in Terre Haute Ind., Monday, Nov. 22.
Lachowitzer won the state title individually in 2006 and was runner up in 2007 and was a member of the two Perham cross-country state title teams in 2006 and 2007.
Lacowitzer is a redshirt sophomore as the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers' fourth runner and will be competing in his first NCAA Championship.
Minnesota received an at-large bid. The Golden Gophers have earned NCAA Championships appearances in 13 of the last 15 seasons.
"I'm so happy for our guys," said Golden Gopher head coach Steve Plasencia. "They really gave it their all in the last couple of meets and I'm excited that it was enough to reward them with an NCAA bid."
The Minnesota men's cross-country team placed third in the NCAA Midwest Region Championships in Peoria, Ill.
Lachowitzer placed 39th in a time of 31:05.66.
The Big Ten will be represented by four teams at the NCAA Championships: Indiana, Minnesota, Penn State and Wisconsin.
