Lawrence Wendell Leeseberg, a former resident of rural Wadena, MN, was born June 4, 1916, to Earnest and Edith (LaBarge) Leeseberg in Deer Creek, MN. He passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at the age of 93, at Bethany Home in Alexandria, MN.
Lawrence was united in marriage with Agnes Noreen "Nora" Theidich on December 24, 1938, in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Henning, MN. They farmed in Henning until 1958 when they moved to Wadena. Lawrence worked construction and continued farming in Henning and Wadena. In later years he enjoyed raising and breeding quarter horses until his failing health required him to move to Bethany Home in Alexandria in November 2002. Lawrence was a man who enjoyed a good Saturday night dance.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes (April 1, 2006); his parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, Herb and Ida, Harley and Ann Mary, and Floyd and Jewell Leeseberg; sisters and brothers-in-law, Hazel and Art Boehne, Pearl and Les Schultz, Blanche and Del Roberts, and Florence "Babe" and George Jackson; and brother-in-law, Walt Theidich.
He is survived by sons, Duane (Marian) of Mora, MN and Curt (Keri) of Wadena; daughters, Ann (Rick) Standal of St. Louis, MO, Judy (Bob) Hegg, of Alexandria, Terri (Yousri) Abdelrahman of Fridley, MN and Penny (Bob) Skrentny of Fort Myers FL; 21 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, David Hall of Wadena; and sister-in-law, Helen Theidich of Henning.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 11, in the Messiah Lutheran Church in Wadena with Reverend Rachel L. O. Stout and Christie Meier officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Vernell Roberts, Jesse Snyder, and Kenny Bracken. Pallbearers were Eric Leeseberg, Glen Leeseberg, Kareem Abdelrahman, Richard Snyder, Blake Thoennes and Greg Wahlstrand. Interment was in Inman Cemetery, rural Henning.
