Ed Ranson of Sebeka will teach this very easy and old process to anyone who wants to learn.

Visit the Sonnenberg farm at 9 a.m. on Saturday to learn how to tap the trees and collect sap; return Sunday to boil the sap into amber sweetness.

Cost for the two sessions is $10 per person; no charge to students.

Ranson has been making syrup on his farm for many years. Participants will enjoy his easy teaching style and substantial scientific knowledge about trees and the process of making maple syrup.

This class is a session of the Continental Divide Folk School, a teaching project of the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center. Call 385-3339 to register or for more information. A complete schedule of spring courses is available online at www.kulcher.org or can be picked up at the cultural center.
