Legislation gives NYM school board new levy power

At its monthly meeting on June 24, the New York Mills School Board was informed of the possibility of levying a new tax on school district residents at a rate of $300 per student.

The potential levy, possible due to changes made in the 2013 state legislative session, is part of an increase of $485 million in new state education spending over the next biennium, according to Superintendent Todd Cameron.
