Letter: Another response to "Parents responsible for providing quality education"
This letter is in response to Merle Hexum's letter which expressed Mr. Hexum's concern about communist thought seeping into our democratic, capitalistic society. I wanted to alert Mr. Hexum and the rest of our community to a book I read just this week that had some alarming ideas.
In this book it states, "When an alien resides with you in your land, you shall not oppress the alien. The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the alien as yourself..." What bleeding-heart liberal propaganda! No one could be so foolish as to openly welcome immigrants into our country. But wait, it gets worse.
It also states, "If any of your kin fall into difficulty and become dependent on you, you shall support them; they shall live with you as though resident aliens. Do not take interest in advance or otherwise make a profit from them...let them live with you. You shall not lend them your money at interest taken in advance, or provide them food at a profit." Rubbish! This flies in the face of our whole economic system which grants lenders the right to increase interest rates when borrowers have trouble paying back their loan.
"If there is among you anyone in need, a member of your community in any of your towns...do not be hard-hearted or tight-fisted towards your needy neighbor. You should rather open your hand, willingly lending enough to meet the need, whatever it may be. Give liberally and be ungrudging when you do so...Since there will never cease to be some in need on the earth, I therefore command you, open your hand to the poor and needy neighbor in your land." Oh come now. What kind of blather is this?
But the worst part is that this book records the teachings of their leader. Just wait until you hear what he has to say:
"If you wish to be perfect, go, sell your possessions, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me."
"Truly I tell you, it will be hard for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God."
"Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation."
Here it is! Their leader proposes the redistribution of wealth! What is of utmost concern is that some of his followers actually heed his advice! This book details their lives as it states, "All who believed were together and had all things in common; they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need." This is the very definition of communism! The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines communism as "a theory advocating elimination of private property or a system in which goods are owned in common and are available to all as needed."
When I read this I thought, "My god! What if our children read this? What would the world become if our children took these teachings to heart and actually lived by them?" My god man, could you imagine the consequences?
But don't worry Mr. Hexum, the leaders took care of this mad man. I read in this book that they tried him before a court and found him guilty of blasphemy. The authorities punished him with death so that he could no longer spread these nefarious ideas. In addition the book talks about how the leaders went after his closest associates, also killing many of them. Yes, the leaders did what they had to do to crush these communists. Can you imagine what the world would be like if these people succeeded in spreading this intolerable doctrine?
