LETTER TO EDITOR: Greetings-and prayers-for U.S. troops
We are in the Christmas season now, although we sometimes hear it called the giving season, and this past month we have found many individuals and businesses in the Perham and Dent area with a massive giving heart.
We would like to again say "thank you" to all of them for donating to our Christmas Cards for the Troops Project with postage funds and supplies.
We mailed 204 Christmas cards. A big thank you to Mr. Jason Smith and the students of St. Henry's Area School for making the cards. They did a fantastic job in the true spirit of the season!
This year we also started a new project: Care Packages for the Troops. We had a request for personal items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, and foot powder, just to name a few, that are very hard to get in Iraq. We immediately went to work and every business in Perham and Dent that was contacted generously donated items, along with many individual donations, for a total of five large boxes sent overseas. All of you know who you are and can feel good knowing you helped brighten the Christmas season for 204 service men and women.
Please keep our troops in your prayers for their safety during this holiday season.
