Letter to the Editor: A poetic plea to buckle up
I hear on the news over and over that people die in car accidents due to not buckling up.
After hearing that a race car driver died due to not using his seat belt, I wrote a poem.
He thought he could control his vehicle no matter what happened. He lost control on ice, flipped, got thrown out and the pickup rolled over him.
HOW MANY MORE
How many more people will die
Because they won't give buckling up a try?
How much does freedom cost,
When a life is lost?
Why make loved ones suffer pain,
When one forgets to buckle up again?
If you like to speed
You should buckle up indeed.
How do we get the message out?
Do we need to scream and shout?
Save your life, start today
Don't forget to buckle up, before you drive away.
