My husband and I knew we would be away from home for the primary election, so we voted by absentee ballot. The clerk asked us to produce a photo identification. This is a new requirement for the 2010 election.
I had an appointment with my doctor the next day. When I checked in I was asked to see a photo identification. I have been a patient at our local clinic for over 45 years. They have my home address and date of birth in their records. This was new, too.
I may have missed the ads, but I have not seen the candidates for the Legislature of the Secretary of State make this legislation a priority. If a photo identification is required to cast an absentee ballot it should be required on Election Day, too.
