Local dentist providing free dental care to children in need
Hamann Family Dentistry of Perham is teaming up with dental professionals across the state to provide free care to children whose families cannot afford to pay for the care. The dental office is located at 200 1st Ave. S.
People interested in scheduling an appointment on February 5 may call the dental office at 218-346-4775.
The Minnesota Dental Association sponsors this statewide outreach effort, called 'Give Kids a Smile' because dentists are trying to close the gap for the low-income children who are not getting the dental care they need and deserve. This marks the program's eighth year. Since its inception, the program has served 32,000 young children in hundreds of locations across the state. The donated services top $10 million in value.
"This is a special way to reach children in need of dental care. Healthy teeth are vital to overall health and even a key to success in school," said Dr. Mike Hamann.
Patients seeking appointments should be under the age of 18 and accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Information on specific services that will be provided will be outlined when an appointment is scheduled.
The Minnesota Dental Association is the voice of dentistry in Minnesota, representing 81 percent of practicing dentists. It is committed to the highest standards of oral health and access to care for all Minnesotans. Learn more at www.mndental.org.
