On Saturday, May 10, rural and city letter carriers in many communities around Otter Tail County will deliver more than mail when they walk and drive along their routes – they will also collect the goodness and compassion of their postal customers.
The 22nd annual National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) National Food Drive – the largest one-day food drive in the nation – will be held that day, with all donated food distributed directly to local food pantries.
Partnering on this event with support from area communities are United Way of Otter Tail County and the NALC.
Last year, Otter Tail County letter carriers collected over 7,500 pounds of food, which went to help the 15 percent of children and families in the county who live below the poverty level.
To make a donation, leave a bag of non-perishable food by your mailbox on May 10, or drop food off at a local participating post office May 9-12.
