Local senior writing group 'Golden Pens' publishes book-just in time for holidays
The Golden Pens, a senior citizen creative writing organization, has published a new book consisting of the member's works in 2009. The book is Senior Reflections, a collection of short stories, poems, and essays, written by members of The Golden Pens.
This book contains works of Lorna Anderson, Gene Collins, Clara Helvig, Bea Hoar, John Knight, Bob Riestenberg and Gail Schroer, all residents of the Perham area.
Included are two works by Evelyn Berger, a member of the group until her death last year from cancer. The book is dedicated to Evelyn and all proceeds of the sale will go to the American Cancer Society in her memory next year during the Relay for Life.
The Golden Pens will preside over a book signing at Ma's Little Red Barn on December 2, from 10-11:30 a.m. The book may be purchased at Ma's for $5 any time between now and December 2.
If you know any of the members, you may also ask them to sell you a book. The group is promoting the book as a good gift idea for Christmas to family and friends.
