Local students spend a week at Rotary camp
The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Camp was recently held at the University of Minnesota in Crookston.
One hundred and forty-eight campers attended, sponsored by 56 different Rotary clubs within District 5580.
Tina Scheidecker, Maria Lorenson, Racole Karels and Mary Riestenberg were sponsored by the Perham Rotary Club.
Most of the participating students will be high school seniors next year.
Camp RYLA’s mission is to provide outstanding high school students with a variety of educational and recreational activities. These activities are designed to provide opportunities for leadership and team building, and to expand, improve and refine the participants’ leadership skills.
RYLA campers are sponsored by their local Rotary clubs, and hosted by the Crookston Rotary Club, Rotary International District 5580, and the University of Minnesota in Crookston. Students stay in the residence halls on campus during this week-long program.
