Memorial services were held for Lorna Neuschwander, age 77 of Perham, Minnesota on Monday, June 1, 1009 at Basswood Baptist Church, rural Richville, Minnesota with Pastor Bert Holmquist officiating. The hymns were sung by the congregation, with special music provided by Pastor Bert and Lana Holmquist. Lorna was laid to rest in the Minnesota Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, Minnesota.
Lorna Arlene (Wells) Neuschwander was born on October 5, 1931 in Richville, Minnesota. Her parents were the late Eugene and Lois (Miner) Wells. Lorna grew up in Richville and the rural Ottertail, Minnesota area. She attended Perham High School and graduated with the Class of 1951. Lorna was united in marriage to Harold William Neuschwander on December 22, 1951 in Henning, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with two children. Harold and Lorna resided in Henning and Harold worked construction in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. In 1952 they moved to Riverdale, North Dakota until 1956. On December 2, 1956 Lorna & Harold moved to Buckeye, Arizona where they owned and operated a 76 gas station until 1968, when they moved to Alaska. Harold worked one season at Elmandorf Airbase in Anchorage, Alaska, they then moved back to Buckeye, Arizona until 1968. They resided in Avandale, Arizona where Harold was a Deacon. They moved to Tuscon, Arizona, then to San Diego, California in 1968 and resided there until 1987. Harold and Lorna moved to Rush Lake in 1987 and wintered in Tuscon. Lorna and Harold loved to go places together. On November 27, 2001 Harold passed away at the Perham, Memorial Hospital in Perham, Minnesota. Lorna loved to travel and cook. She was also very active in church. On May 26, 2009 Lorna passed away at the Thomas House in Perham, Minnesota at 77 years of age. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Lorna is survived by her daughter, Lori (Timothy) Gunn of Perham; son, Timothy Neuschwander of Perham; 3 grandchildren: David and Jennifer Gunn and Maiken Neuschwander ; sister, Jean (Alvin) Meier of Ottertail; sisters-in-law: Mariann (Clark) Ferber of Sandord, Arizona; Della Streich of Washington; brother-in-law, Earl Neuschwander of Tacoma, Washington; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
