Marcella Johnson, 85, of Seaside, Ore. died on Oct. 17 in Seaside.
Ethelyn Marcella (Marcy) was born July 21, 1927 in New York Mills, to John and Esther (Mack) Mansigh. She attended school in New York Mills and graduated with the class of 1945. She earned an AA degree in primary education from the University of Minnesota, Duluth, in 1948. She taught school for one year in Finlayson, Minn. and three years in Clatskanie, Ore. before marrying Jacob Johnson of Astoria, Ore. on June 21,1952. They were blessed with four children, Terry, Sharon, Michael and Susan. Her husband preceded her in death in 1987.
Marcy returned to teaching in 1964 and continued her education, receiving an MA degree in education media from Western Oregon State College in 1978. She was the children's librarian at the Seaside Elementary School until her retirement in 1985.
Marcy was a member of the Apostolic Lutheran Church. Funeral services were held at the Hughes-Ransom Mortuary Chapel in Seaside, with Pastors Ken Karlsen and Ben Johnson officiating.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Ann Karlsen (Corrie) of Livermore, Calif.; two daughters, Sharon Johnson of Seaside and Susan Johnson Doerr (David) of Rainier, Ore.; a son, Michael Johnson of Seaside; and two grandsons, James and Samuel Carmichael.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Terence Johnson of Seaside; and her brother, Milton Mansigh of New York Mills.
