Marlys passed away this past February at the age of 69 and her presence has been greatly missed around the ballpark, and at many Perham High School events where she was a regular. Marlys loved all sports, especially baseball, and she worked the concessions at Krueger Field since 1986 when the current concession building was put up.

Marlys will be honored this Saturday at the Annual 4th of July game between the Perham Pirates and Dent Wildcats. A plaque will be presented prior to the game in her honor to her two sons, Bob and Robin, as well as their families. The plaque will remain on display in the trophy case inside the concession area.

The presentation will start at approximately 7:15 as Bob and Robin, as well as Robin's wife Ronda and two daughters Reilee and Summer will be on hand to accept the plaque. Bob and Robin will then throw out ceremonial first pitch's.

It will be the start of a big 4th of July night at Krueger Field that will include a Color Guard presentation of the flag for the National Anthem, which will be sung by Brian Mort. There will be a climbing wall for kids, Minnesota Twins and Perham Pirates trivia, door prizes which include hot dog give-aways and old-time baseball cards, and, of course, a fireworks display after the game by Steve Richter. Fireworks sponsors include: KLN Industries, ACS, United Community Bank, Perham Women of Focus, The City of Perham, Mulligan's Pub and Eatery, Bremer Bank, Perham Athletic Association.

Tickets for the game will be $3 for adults and $1 for youths.

Come to the ball park early Saturday night to cheer on your team, enjoy the festive atmosphere, check out the fireworks and to honor Marlys, who was a major part of the baseball community for more than a generation of area fans.
