White Earth native Maxine M. Kjorsvik, 87, of Concrete, Wash., died Friday, September 19, 2008 at the Providence Hospital in Everett, Wash.

Maxine Mildred Hodder was born to George and Madeline (Fairbanks) Hodder on June 7, 1921 in White Earth. Maxine was a resident of Seattle, Wash., for many years, operating numerous restaurants throughout the area. In 1964, she married Kenneth Kjorsvik in Seattle, and they moved to the Cape Horn area near Concrete, Wash., where she resided for 35 years. Her husband Kenneth preceded her in death in 1979.

Maxine was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Sedro-Woolley, Wash., and a long time member of the Eagles. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends, fishing on the Skagit River, gardening, and family get-togethers.

Surviving Maxine are her 12 children, Floyd (Deanna) Hintz of Birdsview, Wash., Barbara (Terry) Vest of Stanwood, Wash., Greg (Collette) Hintz of Ellensburg, Wash., Patti Hintz of Mill Creek, Wash., Dennis Hintz of Enumclaw, Wash., Darryl Hintz of Burlington, Wash., Diane Hintz of Everett, Wash., Margo (Darryl) Massingale of Birdsview, Monica Hintz of Mount Vernon, Wash., Debra (Ed) Bazinet of Sedro-Woolley, Mary (Steve) Wold of Darrington, Wash., and Brian Hintz of Simi Valley, Calif.; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and cousins in Minnesota; and two close friends, Ruby Shotz of Minnesota and Kathleen Kelly of Concrete.

Preceding Maxine in death were her parents; her husband Kenneth; a son, Thomas (2007); a daughter, Catherine Jane; a grandson, Jordan; and two brothers, Harold and Frank Hodder.

A funeral memorial mass is set for 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Sedro-Woolley, Wash., with the Rev. Martin Bourke as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at the Forest Park Cemetery in Concrete. A reception will follow the services at the CCD Center in Concrete.
