Rural Perham murder: Pipe wrench reportedly used in brutal killing of mother, son

McClellan, Speicher race the mile at Thundering Herd Classic

FARGO — Two of Perham's most heralded runners of the past five years competed in the mile at the Thundering Herd Classic Saturday at the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track Facility on the campus of North Dakota State University.

McClellan was a two-time state champion in the 3,200m at Perham from 2008-09 and holds three school running records. Maddie finished second in the mile Saturday running a time of 4:54.19 for the host Bison. Melissa Agnew, unattached, won the race in 4:46.77.

Speicher finished eighth in the men's mile for the Minnesota State University-Moorhead Dragons in a time of 4:31.80. Brett Kelly of NDSU won running 4:19.83.

Speicher captained the school's first-ever National Championship cross country team in 2012. Brady was on two state runners-up Yellowjacket cross country teams, two state championship teams, and anchored Perham's state champion 4x800 team last spring.
