MERLE DAVID LOEBRICK
Merle David Loebrick, 70, of Detroit Lakes, Minn., died August 19, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Fargo, N.D.
Merle was born July 30, 1944, the son of Fred and Vyra (Wessel) Loebrick in Perham. He was raised and educated in Perham, graduating from high school in 1963. Merle served in the United States Air Force as an aircraft mechanic in the Philippines from 1963-1967. After receiving an honorable discharge, Merle returned to Perham and worked for Huebsch Turkey Farm. He later worked for Tuffy's and Service Foods in Perham. He was united in marriage to Barbara Dahring on September 16, 2006 at Augustana Lutheran Church in rural Detroit Lakes.
Sports were very important to Merle. He played on the Pine Lakes Baseball team and the Perham Cubs, which he also managed for a year. Merle managed the Perham men's softball team for several years and was also a big Yellowjacket fan.
Merle is survived by his wife, Barbara Loebrick of Detroit Lakes; four step-daughters: Sue (Bruce) Grahn of Vergas; Sandra (Barry) Cossette of Detroit Lakes; Karen (Edward) Saba of Vergas; Becky (Erick) Nephew of Detroit Lakes; five step-sons: Steve (Joyce) Dahring; Ron Dahring, Alan Dahring, Robert (Debbie) Dahring, Kenneth (Wendy) Dahring all of Detroit Lakes; eighteen step grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; five sisters: Merillyn Davis of Montclair, Va.; Adeline Tygart of Long Beach, Calif.; Ardeen (Albert) Filibek of Long Beach; Gloria (Dennis) Rader of Menahga, Minn.; Joan (Terry) Galbrecht of Perham; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Merle was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Wayne Loebrick.
Funeral service will be held Monday, August 25, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Perham, with Pastor Carl Noble officiating.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 24, 2014 from 3-6 p.m. at the West-Kjos Funeral Home with a prayer service at 5 p.m.
Interment will be at Gorman Township Cemetery, rural Perham.
