Michelle A. Groth, 34, of Audubon, died Thursday, September 25, 2008 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident near Lake Park.
Michelle Ann Smith was born to Robert and Mary R. (Stalberger) Smith on Nov. 25, 1973 in St. Cloud, Minn. She was baptized and confirmed in Avon, Minn., and graduated from Albany High School in 1992. She attended Moorhead State University for one year and later attended Interstate Business College.
On Oct. 8, 1994 Michelle married Erik Groth in Avon. They resided in Detroit Lakes before later moving to Ogema, where Michelle ran SM Dispatch. Most recently she had been working for Zayic Construction. Michelle loved dancing, dancing, dancing and also enjoyed playing softball with her girlfriends in the summer, going to the casino with her mother and grandmother, horseback riding on her favorite horse, "Prince," playing with her puppy, "Gabe," but most importantly, cherishing time spent with family and friends especially the lights and loves of her life, her "babies," Cole, Haley, Carsten, and Jenna Rose.
Michelle will be remembered and deeply missed by Erik, of Ogema; her children, Cole, Haley, Carsten and Jenna Rose, also of Ogema; parents, Robert and Mary R. Smith of Avon; her special goddaughter, Lindsay Michelle Sand of Albany, Minn.; two sisters, Nicole Althaus of Avon and Roberta Lea (fiancé Michael Ringstad; brother-in-law Kyle Althaus; godparents, Michael and Judy Steebar and the many, many lives she has touched.
Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Tony and Marie Stalberger, Jerome and Marie Smith; and her aunt Kay.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 29, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ogema, and Tuesday, Sept. 30 at the Church of St. Benedict in Avon.
The David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes has been assisting the family with arrangements.
