Milan Passeri, 78, of Bemidji, died Monday, March 31, 2008, at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, N.D.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Philip's Catholic Church in Bemidji. Burial will be in the spring in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Bemidji. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji assisted the family with arrangements.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Jared Arlt, Ben Hein, Nathan Hein, Neil Hein, Chris Passeri and nephew, Tim Parker.
He was born July 13, 1929, to Ernest "Monty" and Edna (Davis) Passeri in Bemidji. He attended the Carr Lake School and Bemidji High School. In 1949, he joined the U.S. Air Force until he was honorably discharged in 1951. He married Barbara Savard Aug. 11, 1951, in Hibbing, Minn. After briefly living in Hibbing, his family returned to Bemidji, where he worked for various auto garages and car dealerships. He opened the Midway Alignment automobile repair shop, which he ran for many years until his retirement in 2001. He was a member of the Bemidji lodges of Elks, Moose and Eagles. He served on the Carr Lake School Board. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, painting and puttering around the house, working on cars with his sons and grandsons, and he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of Bemidji; sons, Milo Passeri of Bemidji and Tom Passeri of Bemidji; daughters, Patsy (Kelly) Petrowske of Waskish, Minn., Joan Arlt of Bemidji and Lisa (Norm) Kent of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; brothers, Robert (Marie) Passeri of Bemidji and George Passeri of Bemidji; sister, Gloria (Glen) Desizlets of Bemidji; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janet Webb; and brother, Richard Passeri.
