Minneapolis artist visits NY Mills classes

Submitted photo Minneapolis artist Aldo Moroni visits a New York Mills art class to help create clay sculptures that will eventually be on display at the Landmark Center in Henning.

For the last several weeks New York Mills students and adults have had the opportunity to share a unique art experience. Clay sculpture artist Aldo Moroni from Minneapolis, Minn. has been working at the NY Mills School to help create clay structures that will become part of a large joint installation at the Landmark Center in Henning, Minn.

Moroni worked in Henning, Battle Lake, Minn., Underwood, Minn. and NY Mills, where participants created over 500 structures that will be revealed at a celebration in Henning on May 14. The area-wide community art project was made possible by a generous grant from Phelps Mill Country.

Moroni is a well-known artist whose work has been displayed in many museums throughout the Twin Cities and elsewhere. He has conducted classes like this in schools before, but not on a scale this large.
