Minneapolis Guitar Quartet makes a stop in Perham

The Perham Area Public Library had a rare treat on Nov. 11 when the Minneapolis Guitar Quartet dropped by to perform a free concert. The nearly 25-year-old guitar ensemble played a variety of selections with repertoire ranging from Renaissance and Baroque to Spanish, Latin American and Romantic.

Joseph Hagedorn, Steven Newbrough and Ben Gateno make up the regular members of the group with honorary member David Crittenden filling in because a regular member of the four was unavailable. Thus, the Perham audience got a rare treat to listen to Crittenden perform with Gateno, whom he taught guitar to in high school.

The Perham concert was made possible by Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. It was sponsored by the Perham Area Public Library and Viking Library System, in cooperation with the Friends of the Perham Area Public Library and the ITOW Veterans Museum.
