Minnesota man drowns on Long Lake
A capsized boat led to the drowning death of a man in Long Lake, east of Maplewood State Park, last Wednesday.
According to a statement released by the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to a call of a capsized boat in Long Lake at about 1:19 p.m. on June 25.
Robert Schachtschneider, age 72, of Longville, Minn., drowned in the accident.
The boat capsized while Schachtschneider and another man were fishing, causing them both to go into the water, according to the statement. One of the men reportedly leaned over to place a fish in a stringer basket when the boat capsized.
The surviving man, who has not been identified by name, is a Fergus Falls resident, according to the sheriff’s office.
No foul play is suspected. An investigation is ongoing.
