Mixed Blood Theatre to visit Battle Lake School
Mixed Blood Theatre will perform "Dr. King's Dream," its celebration of the life and career of Martin Luther King, Jr. on March 24 at 7 p.m. at the Royal Broberg Auditorium in the Battle Lake Public School.
The performance is drawn from King's letters, sermons, books and speeches (including the "I Have a Dream" speech), and is told through a solo performance by Marvin Grays. Grays has toured for Mixed Blood as King for over a decade.
"Dr. King's Dream" is one of the culturally specific productions toured this season by Mixed Blood, a professional, multi-racial theatre company based in Minneapolis that promotes cultural pluralism and individual equality through artistic excellence. The others include the Chicano cultural history "Minnecanos; Theory of Mind," about a young man on the autism spectrum; "African America," a look at the modern African diaspora in Minnesota; and "Daughters of Africa," a music-driven history of African American women.
General seating is available for the performance. Admission is free, and a free will offering will be collected. For more information, contact Kathy Kensinger at 218-864-5215, ext. 103.
