Mom pleads not guilty to pulling gun on daughter
An Ottertail woman charged with a felony for allegedly pulling a gun on her daughter pleaded not guilty today in Otter Tail County Court.
Desiree Navin, 51, was charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.
According to the court complaint, Navin's daughter called 911 Dec. 8 to report her mother had threatened her with a gun.
The daughter told law enforcement she was cleaning the upstairs of her mother's house when her mother returned home and threw a bucket of water at her. She said her mother then went on to threaten her with a gun in hand.
When questioned, Navin first said the only gun she had was in a vehicle parked outside. She later admitted she kept a shotgun in her bedroom. The daughter confirmed that the shotgun was the weapon used in the threat, according to the court complaint.
Navin was arrested at the scene. She is now scheduled to face a jury Jan. 31.
Initial reports on this incident from the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office indicated the altercation took place in Henning.
