Murdock explains tornado clean-up resources
Rep. Mark Murdock, R-Perham, announces two phone numbers are available to help connect those who need clean-up assistance with those looking to volunteer a helping hand in the wake of tornado damage suffered June 17.
Citizens in need of clean-up assistance in Otter Tail and Wadena counties may call 218-640-3432. This number is valid for both city and rural residents.
People looking to volunteer in the clean-up effort may call 1-800-543-7709.
Murdock has been touring local sites and visiting local residents since tornadoes inflicted serious damage in the two-county area and beyond last week.
"Most of us have never been through anything like this so I'm going around doing whatever I can to let local residents know what services are available and reassure them help is on its way," Murdock said.
"The important thing is to make sure all the resources we need are in place to help our neighbors rebuild from this. It's going to take time and it's not going to be easy, but I ask folks to do their best to remain patient as we get relief packages in order."
Gov. Tim Pawlenty recently signed an emergency executive order providing for assistance. Murdock has been working to confirm a timeline for when the aid will arrive and will distribute that information when it becomes available.
Rep. Murdock encourages constituents to contact his new office with input regarding any state legislative issue. He can be reached on the web at www.house.mn/10B and via email at email@example.com.
