Myrtle Luella Johnson
Myrtle Luella Johnson, 97, of Puposky, died, Friday, Jan. 23, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Society, Clearbrook.
She was born Oct. 10, 1911 to Lars and Laura Engelstad in Holst Township in Clearwater County. She moved with her family to Nymore in 1925.
She married Clarence Johnson in 1932. They lived near Clearbrook for about three years, then they moved to the Maple Ridge area where they spent the rest of their married life. After her husband died in 1981, she stayed on the farm until the last two years of her life, which she spent with family the first year and then the Good Samaritan Society of Clearbrook the last year.
She is survived by six sons: Laurand (special friend Joyce), of Puposky, Elwood (Irene), of Bemidji, Larry (Arlene), of Kalispell, Mont., Dean (Bonnie), of Bemidji, Steve (Ginger), of Puposky, and Stan (Deb), of Prior Lake; four daughters: Gayle (Chester) Djonne, of Park Rapids, Janice Albers, of Puposky, Dianne (Gary) Sundh, of Kalispell, Mont., and Kathleen (Larry) Johnson, of Buffalo; 28 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Marilyn Vandermeer, of Braman, Okla.; and a sister-in-law, Marie Engelstad, of Kansas City, Kan.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son-in-law, Bill Albers; a brother, Marvin; five sisters: Cora, Pauline, Petra, Irene and Edna; and a grandson, Keith Johnson, in 1979.
Honorary casket bearers: Her grandchildren.
Funeral service: Monday, Jan. 26 at Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji, with Pastor Jay Borchert officiating.
Interment: In the spring at Trinity Free Lutheran Cemetery, Liberty Township, Pony Lake.
