Nelson, a junior, was the only Yellowjacket to crack the top six on the front nine, compared to three golfers from HOL Team Champion Pelican Rapids.

Pelican Rapids won the tournament title by seven strokes over Perham 173-180. Barnesville finished third with 208.

The Vikings also won the HOL Team Championship, as the Vikings swept all HOL meets this season. Perham finished in second place.

Nelson's 42 on the front was topped by only Pelican's Alexa Bekkerus.

Bekkerus carded a 41. Pelican Rapids seniors Chaiwon Youn, 43, and Mackenzie Strand, 44, rounded out the top four.

Nelson shot a low round of 41 on the back nine, tied with Liz Husted of Pelican Rapids.

Destiny Mitchell rebounded from a front-nine 54 to card a fourth place back nine finishing score of 45.

Mitchell was the third lowest Jacket shooting a 99; Becca Huss shot 97; Lexie Richter-112; Michaela Soule-119; Liz Sonnenberg scored a 125.

Nelson, Huus and Mitchell also averaged scores low enough to earn all-conference honors. Nelson's stroke average of 41.3 was the conference low.

Huus, 46.3, and Mitchell, 46.4, were ranked sixth and seventh.

The top 15 golfers are named to the all-conference team.

The Vikings and Yellowjackets dueled all year for the top spot at conference meets with the Vikings stringing victories together the length of the schedule.

Perham had previously held the conference championship since 2006.
