New look-inside and out-at Farmers & Merchants bank
Farmers & Merchants State Bank of New York Mills is taking on a new look with a remodel, consisting primarily of interior upgrades with some exterior improvements.
The project is underway with noticeable changes already in place. The first phase of the remodeling project included building three new offices on the south side of the bank. The offices are all but complete and the remodeling project will essentially move from the south side offices north through the bank.
Farmers & Merchants State Bank was built in 1973 and the most recent addition was in 1991. Since then, there have been no major changes to the decor. The interior will take on an entirely new, more modern look.
"We're going for a more warm, welcoming look, and adding things to make the bank a little more customer-friendly," said Amy Wallgren, marketing coordinator for the bank. "We're very excited about this project."
And what is more warm and welcoming than a fireplace?
As part of the image upgrade, a fireplace with stone work will be installed in the center of the bank, just north of the teller line. The fireplace and flat-screen television will complete a new, more inviting customer waiting area.
The majority of the remodeling project consists of interior upgrades including new carpet and repainting all the walls throughout the bank. The existing teller line will be completely replaced with three new teller windows and a new computer system will be installed. To make the front teller line a bit cozier, the ceiling will be lowered and hanging lights installed.
Improvements to the exterior include a drive-up service upgrade. With one more lane added, the drive-up service will go from two lanes to three. New equipment is also being installed to upgrade the mechanics of drive-up service.
Other work to the exterior includes pillars and more stone work installed at the front entryway, along a handicap accessible door. The walk-up service window, otherwise known as the greenhouse, on the southside of the bank's exterior will also be revamped.
The majority of the remodeling project consists of interior and cosmetic improvements to give the bank a fresher, more modern and inviting look.
