New reverend installed at St. John's of Corliss
St. John's Lutheran Church of Corliss has had only had two pastors in the last 49 years.
Reverend Phillip E. Booe has just become the third.
He follows in the steps of Pastor Del Meyer, who had been at St. John's for 23 years and gave his final sermon last June.
Pastor Booe was born in North Carolina, and went to Western Carolina University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. For many years, he worked in the private-sector security industry in various positions and then as a private investigator before attending seminary in 2006.
After two years of study, he was assigned as Vicar to St. John's Lutheran Church of East Moline, Ill.
This past May he completed his studies and graduated from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis with a Master of Divinity Degree.
Pastor Booe and his wife, Becky have one son, Alexander Elijah, who was born on November 15, 2007. He was baptized at the Chapel of Saints Timothy and Titus on the campus of Concordia Seminary. Becky now enjoys staying at home to care for him.
The Pastor and his family are excited about coming to Minnesota and being the third pastor in the last 49 years at St. John's. They look forward to exploring the area, meeting the people, and working together.
The Rite of Ordination was July 18, where Pastor Booe was welcomed into the family of St. John's Lutheran Church of Corliss.
