New Verizon store in Perham offers more ways to be wireless
Verizon customers now have a convenient store with convenient hours to go to for their wireless needs.
A new Verizon Wireless store, operated through Arvig Communication Systems (ACS), is open for business along Main Street in Perham.
Tony Andreen, who has been selling mobile phones with ACS since 1993, said that he's excited about the new store location.
"The new store allows us to have a better presence and expanded hours," he said. "We get a lot more exposure being right here on Main Street."
The new store will be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
So far, customers have been taking advantage of the store's evening hours, Andreen said.
"We're open when people need to get to us," he said. "We really tried to tailor store hours to the customer."
In his 18 years of selling mobile phones, Andreen said that he's seen a lot of changes in mobile technology.
"We used to sell bag phones for $300," he said. "Now, we're basically carrying handheld computers in our pockets."
The new Verizon store will carry all the essential Verizon items, from standard cell phones to smartphones (Android phones and the iPhone are both available in the store) to tablets and other home phone items.
Andreen said that what he's most excited about is having a store with the true Verizon feel.
"I love the look and feel of the new store," he said. "We're able to carry more phones on hand to display, and customers are able to touch and play with the new models."
The store will be holding an open house on Friday, June 10 starting at 11 a.m. Andreen said that a grill would be set up along the sidewalk to grill hot dogs. Ice cream will be served throughout the afternoon, he said, and prizes will also be given away.
Customers will also have a chance to register for different drawings throughout the day. A scavenger hunt will also be set up, Andreen said, that customers can participate in using their smart phones.
"We'll be here showing off all the new technology," he said.
