March 1

Assisted a Wadena resident who had locked their keys in their car at a local business.

March 2

Received a call of a disturbance at a local business office. The disturbance involved a patron who was upset about a bill. The patron was warned for disorderly conduct.

Took a report of a possible child neglect case that occurred in Wadena County. A report was forwarded to Wadena County Social Services and was addressed by them.

March 3

Warned a company doing business in NY Mills of a traffic violation.

Stopped and advised a motorist whose turn signals were not operating properly.

March 4

Assisted the driver of a commercial vehicle who had locked his keys in his vehicle.

A wallet was found in the parking lot of a local business and was turned into the police department. The wallet was returned to the owner who reported that nothing was missing.

Received a report from a local resident whose Facebook account had been "hacked." The resident regained access to the account and sustained no apparent loss.

Conducted a welfare check on a local resident and their child. Officers were unable to locate the subjects, but later learned that the subjects were OK in another town.

Received a complaint of loud music at a local multi-unit dwelling. Upon officer arrival, no loud music was heard.

Responded to a report of several suspicious persons walking around local businesses after hours and a local multi-unit dwelling. Officers located footprints and it appeared that the group was checking ashtrays. All buildings were found to be secure.

March 7

Warned a local resident for expired vehicle registration and no proof of insurance.

Received a report of an injured deer north of NY Mills. An Otter Tail County deputy located and disposed of the injured animal.

Assisted a local resident who locked their keys in their car.

March 8

Officers from several agencies responded to a local residence in which a person was threatening suicide with a handgun. The area was secured and the subject surrendered to officers without incident. A health and welfare hold was placed and the subject was transported for evaluation and treatment. No criminal charges were filed.

Responded to a bomb threat at the Brunswick/Lund Boat Plant. The facility was evacuated and the area was secured. Multiple public safety agencies provided assistance. Professionally trained detection dogs were used to clear the buildings. Following investigation, a local resident was arrested and charged with two felony level offenses for calling in the threat.

Took a report of a two-vehicle accident near the intersection of West Oilman St. and Hayes Ave. There were no injuries reported.

Warned a motorist for speeding.

Assisted a parent who was accidentally locked out of her apartment in which she had two young children.

March 10

Took a report from a local resident who was receiving harassing emails.

March 11

Stopped a local resident who was driving without a valid license. It was learned that the subject had filed the wrong application for a license. The subject later resolved the misfiling and obtained a valid license.

Took a report from a visitor to NY Mills who had lost their keys. The key ring had a red carabineer and a star-shaped fob on it.

Assisted a resident of Douglas County with a civil matter.

March 13

Assisted with a health and welfare check of a rural resident of NY Mills.

Assisted a local resident who was locked out of their vehicle.

March 14

Took a report of some minors acting disorderly on the school playground outside of school hours. One minor was cited for underage smoking.

Assisted with a funeral escort.

Stopped and advised a motorist that two of three of their brake lights were out.

Assisted with a civil property exchange.

March 15

Captured a dog that was running loose in a residential neighborhood. The dog had no license and was not recognized by area residents. The dog was transported to Lakeland Vet in Perham.

Checked on an occupied vehicle that was parked on Highway 10 outside of NY Mills with its hazard lights on. The driver had pulled over to take a phone call and was OK.

Took a report from a Perham resident who believed their child had lost their wallet somewhere in NY Mills.

Gave advice to a local resident about a civil property dispute.

Assisted a county resident in resolving a matter that involved a traffic citation issued by another agency.

Assisted a local resident who was locked out of their vehicle.

Responded to a burglary at a local business. It was a false alarm.

Notified BNSF about some railroad crossing arms that were stuck down.

Checked on a vehicle that was parked at an unoccupied residence. The vehicle was using the driveway to turn around and had become stuck.
