NWS forecasting what could be strongest storm of year
East Otter Tail County is bracing for what the National Weather Service (NWS) is calling the strongest storm of the winter.
The area is under a blizzard watch, effective Tuesday night through Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
The Red River Valley and West Central Minnesota areas are expected to be hit the hardest, with forecasts calling for a foot or more of snow. The Perham area will see one to three inches of snow throughout the day Tuesday, with more snow expected overnight and Wednesday morning.
The watch calls for significant reductions in visibility, due to blowing and falling snow.
According to the NWS, the storm will be a much stronger system than previously expected, with more snow and stronger winds. Gusts of up to 35 mph are expected.
