NY Mills Lions donate $5,000 for Country View Children's Park
At their May meeting, the New York Mills Lions Club voted unanimously to contribute $5,000 toward Country View Children's Park in the new Country View Estates residential addition of NY Mills.
The total cost of the project, with wood chips, edging, slides, climbers, monkey bars and swings is $15,000.
The Lions and the NY Mills Park Board will be the main financial backers, $5,000 each. Donations have also come from the NY Mills Civic & Commerce Association for $500 as well as private individuals.
"The equipment that we are using is a commercial product the same the school has and the other parks," said Dave Braukmann, member of the Lions Park Board President.
The city of NY Mills donated an area, which is a non-build-able pie shape, for the playground location.
Kris Koll from the park board will donate the excavating for the project.
The playground is another draw for prospective buyers at the 35-lot development.
Interest in the lots, and real estate in general, is starting to pick up, said Deb Porkkonen, Centennial Real Estate, the firm that is marketing the lots for the city.
"It's the newest development in New York Mills...and it is very attractive," she said. If you look to the east, it is a natural, wetland area that is beautiful."
