NY Mills man drives car into river
Alcohol was a factor in an accident that left a vehicle in a river near Perham Thursday morning.
James Wintermeyer, 25, of New York Mills was traveling eastbound on 355th street near Hwy 78 when he lost control of his 1994 Pontiac Sunbird, crashed into the ditch, missed two trees and landed in a river where the depth was around four feet, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office.
Wintermeyer was not injured, though his vehicle sustained major water damage.
He was arrested at the scene for DWI.
June 30 is known as the deadliest day on Minnesota roads, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
