Wallgren's slam came in the fifth with the Eagles trailing 5-4. Mills scored four more in the sixth, two coming on a single by Jarrod Norton, then held off a late OTC rally in the seventh for the win.

The two teams split their games last year. They will meet again to close the regular season on May 21 at Jacobson Field.

Tough 'D' at Ashby

New York Mills committed no errors in Friday's game at Ashby, while the hometown Aarows committed seven as the Eagles pulled out an 11-4 road win.

Ashby took the early lead with a pair of first inning runs, however, the Eagles struck for six in the second and never relinquished the lead.

Tristan Huwe struck first with a RBI triple. Eric Wallgren delivered the next blow with a two-run homer. Roberts brought two more in with the second triple of the inning, and he scored the final run of the rally on a single by Baune.

Ashby made it 6-3 with a single run in the home half of the second, but New York Mills scored once in the fourth and three times in the sixth off three Ashby errors to take a 10-3 advantage. Ashby scored their final run in the bottom of the sixth, only to have Mills get one back in the top of the seventh on a RBI double by Spencer Imsande scoring Ted Rohr.

Jarrod Norton struck out six through four innings on the mound to get the win for the Eagles.

Mills also beat their Section 6A rival last season, 14-6.

B-H rallies for win

Bertha-Hewitt broke up a 5-5 tie in the top of the seventh Thursday at Jacobson Field to beat New York Mills, 6-5.

"It was a tough loss," said head coach Chris Bushinger. "We just can't seem to put seven innings of baseball together."

B-H took an early lead with a pair of first inning runs. Mills bounced back in the bottom of the second to take the lead on a three run double by Maison Roberts.

The Eagles missed an opportunity to put the game away in the fourth. They did score two runs, one on a throwing error that allowed Tanner Wegscheid to score from first base after a stolen base attempt. The other came in on a RBI double by Mike Baune. Unfortunately, Mills made three outs on the bases, including one at the plate when David Ayers tried to score on Baune's hit.

Bertha-Hewitt took advantage of two walks and two Eagle errors in the top of the fifth to score three runs to tie the game at 5-5. The Bears scored the winning run in the seventh thanks to a hit batter that lead off the inning and eventually came around to score.

B-H, one of the three co-champs of the Park Region Conference last year, swept the Eagles in 2008, 10-7 and 6-0.

Mills will look to split the season series when they travel to Bertha on May 19.

Pair of doubleheaders

The Eagles will play a pair of Park Region doubleheaders this week. They will head to Menahga today (April 30) for two games against the Braves. Menahga won both games last year in a DH sweep, 12-5 and 9-3.

Mills will return home on May 5 to take on Parkers Prairie in a pair of games at Jacobson Field. The Eagles have won five-straight overall against the Panthers, including a sweep in last year's double dip, 4-2 and 17-8.

The first game in both sets of doubleheaders will start at 4 p.m.

New York Mills will remain at home on May 7 when they host Verndale.
