NYM Boys Basketball: Wheaton knocks off NY Mills at Concordia Classic
New York Mills took on their second of three Section 6A teams on Tuesday at the Concordia College Holiday Classic in Moorhead.
After suffering a buzzer-beating loss to Ulen-Hitterdal in their first game at Concordia on Monday, the Eagles dropped a 65-49 game to the Wheaton Warriors Tuesday afternoon.
Wheaton had a balanced scoring attack with three players in double figures, led by Thomas Pederson with 17.
Meanwhile, Isaiah Bauck was the lone threat for New York Mills as he scored 11 of the teams 23 first half points as the Eagles trailed by 13 points at the break. Bauck went on to lead all scorers with 22 points.
The Eagles struggles at the free throw lined continued at Concordia. They were just 6-for-16 from the line on Tuesday after going 7-for-23 Monday against Ulen-Hitterdal.
The Eagles will finish the Classic on Dec. 30 against Barnesville. The Trojans are also in Section 6A.
New York Mills will begin the New Year with a pair of Park Region Conference road games at Verndale on Jan. 5, and at Sebeka on Jan. 7. Sebeka is ranked No. 5 in Class A.
