NYM Girls Basketball: Lady Eagles remain perfect with win over Underwood

The New York Mills girls improved to 9-0 Tuesday night with a 52-43 win over Underwood.

Alicia Boe scored 11 of her 13 points in the first half as the Eagles took a 31-23 lead into the break. Boe would finish with seven rebounds and seven assists.

Hannah Rutten would fin-ish with 17 points, six re-bounds, seven steals and five assists. Kendra McCall was also in double figures with 12 points.

It was the Eagles third straight non-conference game and sixth game this season against Section 6A teams. Underwood (6-4) won last year's contest, 58-49.

It marks New York Mills best start since the 1980-81 season when they started 9-0 before going on to State, where they finished 6th.

New York Mills will get back to Park Region Confer-ence action tonight (Jan. 14) at Menahga. They have won three in a row over the Lady Trojans.

Mills will return to the Sports Center Jan. 15 to host Park Region Conference leaders Bertha-Hewitt in a doubleheader with the boys. The Lady Bears, ranked No. 5 in Class A, won both meetings last season and are the defending PRC champs

The C-squad girls game will start the night at 4 p.m. in the Sports Center (no C-squad boys game). The B-squad games start at 5 p.m. in the Sports Center and high school gyms.

The varsity girls will start at 6:15 p.m., with the boys' game will follow at the Sports Center at approxi-mately 7:45 p.m.

The Lady Eagles remain at home Jan. 19 for another PRC game against Pillager. NY Mills has won nine straight against the Huskies dating back to 2005.
