NYM Girls Basketball: Mills gets another win over Section 6A team

New York Mills improved to 6-0 overall, and 5-0 against Section 6A teams, as they earned a 73-39 win at Rothsay Tuesday night.

Senior Hannah Rutten led the team with 25 points and 14 rebounds. She had grabbed her 1,000th career rebound earlier this season against Battle Lake and now has 1,048 for her career, placing her fourth on the school's all-time list.

The Eagles dominated from the start, outscoring Rothsay 43-20 in the first half.

For the game, Mills held the Tigers to 26.4 percent shooting from the field (14-for-53).

Alicia Boe put in 18 points to go with six steals in the win. Brittnie Menze had 11 points and five rebounds and Kendra McCall added nine points and four steals.

Mills won the last contest between the two schools in 2008, 63-46.

The Lady Eagles three-game road swing continues Dec. 17 at Verndale. New York Mills swept the Pirates last year and have won four straight in the rivalry.

The Eagles will have a 20-day break from competition over the holiday's. Their next game will be Jan. 7, 2010 when they host Wadena-Deer Creek at the Mills Sports Center.
