Tuesday vs. Verndale

On Tuesday, the Lady Eagles had their fourth meeting of the season with Verndale at the Sports Center. The Pirates improved to 3-1 over New York Mills with a 3-0 victory (25-20, 25-17, 25-22).

The Eagles were playing without Boe, who was sick, and Megan Cole, who is out with an injury.

Katie Schik had a solid all-around game for Mills with seven kills, two blocks and three aces.

Mills went 2-1 against Verndale last year.

The Pirates won the last meeting, 2-1, at the Bertha-Hewitt Tournament on Sept. 26. Mills won on Sept. 24, 3-0 (25-16, 28-26, 25-14). The teams tied, 1-1, at the Mills Invitational on Sept. 12.

Last home game

The final home match of the regular season will be against Pillager on Oct. 8. New York Mills has won seven straight against the Huskies dating back to 2002.

The Eagles will hit the road this weekend to take part in the Litchfield Invitational. First round matches start at 9 a.m.

On Oct. 13, Mills closes out their Park Region Conference schedule with a match at Menahga. The Eagles have won their last two matches against the Trojans, including a 2-0 win at the Mills Invitational earlier this season. Menahga is in last place in the conference with a 0-3 record (3-12 overall).
