The Eagles benefited from three forfeits, with a double forfeit at 215.

Shane Novak and Tommy Selander got Mills out to a 7-0 lead. After a 9-0 win by Maison Roberts at 125, the Eagles had an 11-6 lead.

Barnesville won the next two matches to go ahead, 15-11. But a forfeit at 140 and a pin by Jordan Novak at 145 put Mills back on top, 23-15.

The Trojans earned a pin and a pair of decision wins, including one at 189 pounds, to make the score, 29-27.

But the match basically ended at 189 pounds, thanks to the double forfeit at 215 pounds, followed by a forfeit win by Landyn Saewert at heavyweight to end the match.

Jordan Novak's pin put's his career record at 165-37. He's now three wins behind Peter Mursu, who is Mills' all-time leader at 168-42-1.

PRC ahead

Mills will have a nine-day break as they head into the Park Region Conference Tournament on Feb. 6 in Parkers Prairie. Opening round matches start at 10 a.m.

The Eagles have won 25 Park Region Conference titles, the last coming in 2006. They finished fifth last year as Browerville/Eagle Valley ran away with the title, followed by Osakis, Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale and Pequot Lakes/Pine River-Backus.

Shane Novak (103) is the only returning individual champion for the Eagles. Roberts (119) and Jordan Novak (135) were PRC runner-ups in 2009.

On Feb. 9, Mills will head to Clarissa for the Eagle Valley Triangular with Browerville/Eagle Valley and United North Central.
