Midwest Machinery Company recently acquired the John Deere dealership just west of Wadena on Highway 10, as well as in Little Falls, Baxter and Aitkin.

Wadena’s location used to operate as Evergreen Equipment.

Store Manager Dean Torgerson said Midwest Machinery Company, or MMC, now has 13 stores under its wing, and is committed to every community it conducts business in.

“They buy their vehicles locally and they sponsor many local events or allow events to use their equipment,” Torgerson stated in an email to the Focus. “At every event we have a program that’s called ‘Feed the Gator,’ where all canned goods that are brought in are matched by MMC. This will go to the local food pantry.”

Customers will notice a larger inventory that encompasses 10 acres. Both new and used inventory has been added, and the dealership now has a bigger selection of equipment and sprayer parts. The store sells ag equipment, skid steers, lawn mowers, forage harvesters and much more.

Thirteen employees are on staff at the Wadena location. Since MMC has taken over operations, the store has added three full-time positions and bumped one part-time employee up to full-time. Most of the staff previously served customers at Evergreen Equipment.

A new road technician, along with a new service truck with a crane, is on call for on-farm repairs. The truck is a new service the dealership is now offering for farmers.

As a part of MMC, the dealership is able to centralize many of its warranty, ordering and finance programs, allowing staff to spend more time selling and taking care of customers, and less time on administrative duties.

The dealership has also become a John Deere FarmSight Certified Dealer, which means employees are working to provide services for customers in addition to just the tractors themselves.

“We have lots of changes....and all for the better,” said Torgerson.

In an informational email shared with the Focus, MMC Owner/Regional Sales Manager Brian Weber said he believed the Wadena location would be one of the company’s bigger ag stores: “We feel strongly that Wadena is going to be a really good part of our business.”

The public is invited to visit the dealership during an Open House celebration on Tuesday, Feb. 11 from noon to 5 p.m.

People are invited to meet the staff and take part in a noon lunch. There will also be planter and combine clinics demonstrating the set up and adjustment of equipment. A 10 percent discount will be applied to any John Deere merchandise purchased that day.

Participants may bring in a non-perishable food item for the Wadena food shelf. Donations will be matched by MMC.

The dealership is located at 62505 Highway 10, west of Wadena. For more information, call MMC at 1-888-631-2311.
