Opera singer to perform in NY Mills
Judi Siirila Paskowitz, a soprano from Los Angeles, will give a free solo recital featuring show tunes and classical arias on Sunday, July 28 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in New York Mills.
Janell Brakel will accompany Paskowitz on piano.
This recital is presented by the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center and will feature songs by Rodgers and Hammerstein, Meredith Wilson and Andrew Lloyd Webber, in addition to Puccini, Mozart and Cole Porter.
Paskowitz has appeared in leading roles in such operas as La Bohème, Madama Butterfly, Aida, Le Nozze di Figaro, Così fan tutte, The Magic Flute and Hansel and Gretel, with companies that include the Long Beach Opera, West Coast Opera, Opera Theatre of the Inland Empire, West End Opera and the Redlands Bowl Festival.
She was a member of Opera A La Carte, the touring repertory Gilbert and Sullivan company, performing lead roles in The Mikado, Patience and The Pirates of Penzance. She has also appeared as soprano soloist with numerous symphony orchestras.
