Otterdazzle parade cancelled due to cold; fireworks, other events still a go
Ottertail’s always-anticipated annual winter festival, Otterdazzle, is coming up this Saturday.
With subzero temperatures expected, organizers decided on Tuesday to call off the previously scheduled parade of lights. Other outdoor activities, however, including a fireworks show and turkey bowling, will still go on.
All indoor events will go on as planned, also.
Events will take place at the Ottertail Community Center, with the fireworks being lit off near the Ottertail water tower.
Festivities will begin at 8 a.m. with a pancake breakfast by the Ottertail Lions Club. Breakfast will be served until noon.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., craft and vendor sales will be going on in the community center. There will also be a hot dog stand set up there, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
From noon to 2 p.m., kids can play games, make crafts, decorate cookies, visit Santa, play turkey bowling and more. A Dazzle Walk (cake walk) will be held from 1-3 p.m., and prizes will be given away to winners.
Bingo and hay rides will be going on from 2-4 p.m., immediately followed by prize drawings. Raffles will include Otter Bucks, a Christmas dinner basket, wine basket, kids’ toys and much more.
The fireworks are scheduled to start at 5:30.
After that, visitors can warm up from the cold with a nice hot bowl of chili at 6 p.m., when the cook-off starts. People will get the chance to test out and vote for their favorite chili. Chili will be available for a free will donation, with proceeds going to the New York Mills and Perham food shelves this holiday season.
Winding up the day’s events will be a Christmas concert at The Creamery, starting at 7:30 p.m.
