Ottertail's dazzling holiday celebration
Don't miss the fun in Ottertail this Saturday at the annual Otter Dazzle holiday festival.
The event, held at the Ottertail Community Center, "promotes family fun, and is a kick-off for the holiday season," said Lori Field, a member of the Ottertail Business Association and Otter Dazzle organizer.
A team of 12 has been working since September to put together the holiday festivities, hoping to provide something for everyone at this day of fun.
Field said, "Volunteers are wonderful. They all come out on the day and pitch in. We have a lot of community volunteers."
Start the day out right with an Otter Tail Lions pancake breakfast, beginning at 8 a.m.
Follow that up with a craft and vendor sale, which will begin at 9 a.m. This year's sale will have almost double the number of last year's booths - 22 at press time.
Games and crafts for kids will be available from noon to 2 p.m. Kids can decorate a giant cookie, sponsored by Ottertail Bakery, and play a round of turkey bowling.
Decked in his traditional suit, Santa will be available from noon to 2 p.m. to hear Christmas wishes and take a photo or two.
A Dazzle Walk, similar to a traditional cake walk, will offer a variety of prizes to players from 1 to 3 p.m.
Folks can join in on a round of bingo or bundle up and enjoy a hayride from 2 until 4 p.m.
After that, there will be drawings for prizes, including a TV, dinner baskets, wine baskets, OtterBucks, giant stockings and a Christmas tree. Names will be drawn at 4 p.m.; winners must be present to win.
At 5 p.m. a parade of lighted-up floats will start, followed by fireworks at 5:30.
After fireworks, participants will want to head back inside the community center to warm up with a bowl of chili at the Community Chili Cook Off, beginning at 6 p.m. Chili is available for a free will donation, which will go back to area children in need.
