Otto Herman Genoch, 94, of Menahga, MN, passed away peacefully at the Green Pines Nursing Home on Thursday, July 30, 2009. A funeral mass will be held Monday, August 3, at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Butler, MN, with Father Joe Herzing officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Sunday, August 2, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Otto was born on October 15, 1914 in Richville, MN, the son of Fred and Amelia (Remer) Genoch. Otto farmed with his father for some 20 years. He then moved to Minneapolis where he was employed at Jacobson Machine Works. Otto was united in marriage to Florence Rutz on May 8, 1937 in Minneapolis. Together they had four sons. They moved to the Butler area in 1961, where he spent the rest of his years farming. Florence died on February 3, 1997.
Otto drove bus for 15 years for the New York Mills school district. He enjoyed playing cards and dancing. Otto was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Otto is survived by four sons, Robert (Kathleen) of Minneapolis; Ronald (Jean) of Menahga; Roger (Diane) of Fargo; and Russell (Wendy) of Menahga; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding Otto in death is his wife, Florence; five brothers, Gustav, Albert, Ludwig, Emil and Alfred; his parents, Fred and Amelia; and great-grandson, Joseph.
