Parents create fundraiser in daughters’ names
After receiving major outpourings of support while their children were seriously ill, the families of Krista Martin and Eva Hoaby have come together to unite the Perham community in what is being called a “pay-it-forward effort.”
A fundraiser in the girls’ names – the Krista and Eva Relief Fundraiser – will be held on Saturday, April 12, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Perham Area Community Center to support area families and the Ronald McDonald House in Rochester, Minn.
The vast majority of the day’s proceeds will go to local families as they face serious medical needs, with 10 percent going to the Ronald McDonald House.
“Right now, in Perham, the community does not have a family to help, and that’s a blessing,” said Krista’s mother, Joni Bloomquist. She is organizing this fundraiser along with Eva’s parents, Josh and Ashlee Hoaby.
“We hope there isn’t one (another family in crisis), but, you know, I’m sure there is going to be one, one day,” said Bloomquist.
The day will include pizza, games and a kid’s raffle, as well as a silent auction and bake sale.
Silent auction items will include wine baskets, a large tool box, hand-made rugs and more.
Anyone who would like to donate for the bake sale can bring baked goods to the PACC the morning of the fundraiser. Bloomquist asked that items be packaged, but not priced.
Donation checks for the event may be written to the Perham Lions Club with ‘Krista and Eva Relief Fundraiser’ in the memo line.
