PartnerSHIP 4 Health to offer funds for worksite gardens
Perham Minnesota 222 2nd Avenue SE 56573

Accessing fresh fruits and vegetables could be a bit easier for families through an opportunity being made available through PartnerSHIP 4 Health.

The partnership is looking to work with any organization or business interested in growing foods and donating the produce to a local food shelf and/or social service organization.

PartnerSHIP 4 Health will provide up to $300 for startup costs for the project. Funds can be for supplies for raised beds, soil amendments such as compost, garden supplies such as hoses and garden seeds. Assistance will also be available for further direction and gardening guidance.

The project is called Seeds of Health, Hope and Community.

The goal is to inspire both community service and improved health for employees and the community.

“We are looking for organizations who may be interested in starting gardens managed by employees. Just a few moments a week could make a huge difference in the lives of families having difficulty accessing fruits and vegetables,” said Jason Bergstrand of PartnerSHIP 4 Health.

Worksite gardens are increasingly becoming more popular. They inspire employees to grow their own foods, eat healthy, and increase physical activity, leading to improved overall health.

To be eligible, a business must be from Becker, Clay, Otter Tail or Wilkin counties, and must fill out an application before Friday, April 19. Applications can be downloaded at

The funding for the gardens project is being sponsored by PartnerSHIP 4 Health, the Minnesota Statewide Health Improvement Program (SHIP) of Becker, Clay, Otter Tail and Wilkin counties.
