Paul L. Carey
Paul L. Carey, 91, of Park Rapids, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2009 at Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids.
He was born July 17, 1917 in Crookston to Paul Sr. and Pearl (Ruth) Carey. He moved to Park Rapids when he was 5 years old. He graduated in 1938.
He was involved for 47 years in Golden Gloves boxing and won regionals in 1940.
He married Ma Donna Mae Hensel in Placerville, Calif. She died Dec. 1, 1958. On Aug. 5, 1961 he married Eloise Vivian Westerlund in Park Rapids.
He worked various jobs through out his life such as Nei Bottling, Luxury Ice Cream Store, Creamery and he retired from Ravens Den in 1972.
He is survived by his wife, Eloise; his children: Barb (Joseph) Rezac, of Baxter, Dianna (Tom) Weiland, of Waconia, David (Terry), of Prescott, Ariz., James (Pat), of Bemidji, Barb (Gary) Slover, of Brooks, Wayne (Kris), of Bemidji, Joleen (Shannon) Fitzloff, of Winter Garden, Fla., and John (Cheri), of Bemidji; a sister: Virginia (Harry) Engh, of Omak, Wash.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Honorary casket bearers: His granddaughters: Tammy Dufeck, Jenny Binstock, Richelle Ortiz, Christa Weiland, and Ashley, Amy and Anna Carey.
Casket bearers: His grandsons: Frank and Craig Rezac, Tom, Jason and Jesse Slover, and Jesse, Paul and John Carey.
Funeral service: Tuesday, Jan. 13 at Assembly of God Church in Park Rapids with Pastor Art Wood as officiant.
Interment: Greenwood Cemetery in Park Rapids.
