Perham beats Frazee a third time to advance in 8AA playoffs

PERHAM -- Jordan Bruhn returned to the Yellowjackets' lineup after sitting out the end of the regular season with a lower body injury and led Perham with 17 points and eight assists in an opening Section 8AA-South playoff blowout of Frazee 55-21.

Perham's renowned defense was in full effect as the Yellowjackets held the Hornets to only four points in the first half up big 26-4 at the break.

Mark Schumacher scored 15 points and added six rebounds in a game that was over in the first three minutes.

Jordan Cresap scored nine points. All three of his baskets were from behind the arc.

Daniel Janu led Frazee with 10 points.

No. 2-seeded Perham advances to face No. 3 Hawley, Saturday, March 10 at Concordia College in Moorhead. The game is scheduled for an 8 p.m. tip-off.

In other 8AA-south sub-section action, No. 1 Pelican Rapids defeated No. 8 Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton 62-27 in Pelican Rapids

The Vikings will face No. 4 Breckenridge. The Cowboys narrowly defeated No. 5 Barnesville 58-55.

The Vikings/Cowboys match-up will precede the Yellowjackets/Nuggets game at Concordia with a start time of 6:30 p.m.

Pelican Rapids swept Breckenridge this season defeating the Cowboys 87-37 at home Jan. 20 and 87-54 on the road Feb. 17.

Perham beat Hawley 72-54 in Hawley Jan. 10 and won 56-38 at home Feb. 10.

Perham knocked the Nuggets out of the playoffs last season in an overtime game played without the services of Bruhn.

In the northern half of the bracket, No. 3 Pequot Lakes defeated No. 6 Park Rapids Area 84-57 in Pequot Lakes.

No. 5 Crookston won on the road at No. 4 Warroad 58-53.

Crookston advances to play No. 1 Crosby-Ironton at Bemidji State University Saturday night.

Pequot Lakes awaits the winner of No. 7 Roseau at No. 2 Bagley. That game was postponed until tonight, Friday, March 9 at 7 p.m. in Bagley due to inclement weather conditions Thursday.
